THE EXPLORERS' CORNER
I got into the travel industry to travel (can you believe it???). But the biggest benefit has been the people I've worked with along the way. In this new feature, The Explorers' Corner, I'm reaching out to the people in travel, photography, exploration and writing who inspire me so that you can be inspired by them as well. Up first, get to know National Geographic Photographer, journalist and soon-to-be children's book author, Kike Calvo.

WHO I'M FOLLOWING: LUNATIC AT LARGE
With a name like @LunaticatLarge and her site, Camels & Chocolate, I was on board from the jump. Journalist and traveler Kristin Luna makes her travels fun to tag along with. For example, if this doesn't make you want to visit the Alps, I don't know what will.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:
This week's quote hurts a bit. Anthony Bourdain was a HUGE influence on me. When I was on the road scouting for an expedition, I would always ask myself, "What would Bourdain do?" I'd leave my hotel, go to a restaurant or bar where locals hung out and I'd talk to people. I always felt better about being alone on the road. And I always learned something about the world. And about myself.
"It seems that the more places I see and experience, the bigger I realize the world to be. The more I become aware of, the more I realize how relatively little I know of it, how many places I have still to go, how much more there is to learn. Maybe that’s enlightenment enough - to know that there is no final resting place of the mind, no moment of smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom, at least for me, means realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go." ~ Anthony Bourdain
